j) Nunatsiavut Fisheries Research:
• Research on fisheries on Labrador Inuit Lands (and waters adjacent
to) requires a Consent for Access (issued by the Minister of Lands and
Natural Resources). Contact (709) 896-8582 or visit the NG website
www.nunatsiavut.com.
• In addition, as with any research in Nunatsiavut, NG asks all research proponents to follow the Nunatsiavut Interim Research Process (dated June
2006). For up to date information on the status of the research protocol visit
the NG website at www.nunatsiavut.com.
k) Marine Mammal Transportation License:
• A marine mammal transportation license is required to transport marine
mammal parts (whole animal, dead or alive, or parts of an animal) outside
Nunavut. These licenses are available from the offices of Fisheries & Oceans
Canada in Iqaluit and Rankin Inlet and the local Wildlife offices (Dept. of
Environment) in most communities. A Convention on International Trades
in Endangered Species (CITES) permit is also necessary to export animal
products of endangered species, as listed by CITES, leaving Canada.
